Music and Lyrics by Harry Chapin
This "Greatest Story Ever Retold" musical is based on The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John by Clarence Jordan where the Gospel is presented in a setting of rural Georgia with country music songs. Composed by Harry Chapin, who wrote such famous tunes as “Taxi” and “Cat’s in the Cradle”, Cottonpatch Gospel was his final and perhaps best work. Great country flavored songs include “Somethin's Brewin' in Gainesville", “Mama Is Here”, “Julbilation” and “One More Tomorrow”. Drama critics loved this show and so did a broad spectrum of religious commentators.+ |
